Enhancing the land

A busy and physical month to start the new year by establishing new hedges, bolstering existing ones and planting over a dozen varieties of trees. Their purpose is to promote biodiversity but they will also act as windbreaks, provide additional feed for wildlife and enhance the aesthetics.

Hedging mixtures on the Estate include thousands of hawthorn, hornbeam, beech, laurel and hazel, with hundreds of trees ranging from Salix to Scots Pine, English oaks to a new mixed orchard and Sorbus to giant Sequoia.

This is an annual exercise we voluntarily undertake to ensure we are continually enhancing the land around us.
